Intiland firmly believes that the exercise of corporate social responsibility should be adopted as one of its core values. The Company’s management believes that a business can only thrive if the community it operates in also thrives, and is committed to play its part. Therefore, even though the Company has seen challenging times which has severely limited its resources, the Company and its staff have always made it a point to organize and participate in activities to promote worthy causes. In the past years, the Company had engaged in a number of activities which included activities to care for our environment, improve the living conditions of our people, provide disaster and poverty relief, promote health and promote education.
Caring For Our Environment
- Tree Planting
Graha Famili Management continued its tree planting program in this residential compound. The management has been carrying out this program since 2004. As of 2007, clusters S, N, O, W and YY, have been planted with different species of trees such as Spatudea, Glodokan Tiang, Trembesi, and Leander.
- Go Green and Blue Sky Program
Another program conducted to engage Graha Famili residents was the Graha Famili Go Green, Blue Sky program started in June. Under this program, the management educated residents on various types of rubbish and the way in which it can be sorted for recycling. This program has reduced the maintenance costs of the Graha Famili compound.
Improving The Living Conditions Of Our People
- Low-cost Housing Development
The first proposal of low-cost house (RSH) construction aims to avoid greater losses at the event of tsunami, which is predicted to hit Pacitan in the future following earthquake and tsunami disaster in Pangandaran and Yogyakarta. The proposed low-cost houses will be built on higher ground to save the people from the tsunami. In addition, the Company will teach the inhabitants of the RSH about organic waste processing into fertilizer. Since 80 percent of domestic waste in the area consists of organic waste, the processing will serve two main purposes, namely to maintain the fertility of land and to give alternative income to the people.
- Low-Cost Apartment Development
At the end of 2007, Intiland and some partners have studied the possibility of constructing low cost apartment in West Jakarta as part of the Company’s participation in supporting the government’s plan to build 1,000 housing towers. The government’s plan was announced by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in October 2007 The planned housing towers will be built in government-owned lands and private sector owned lands. Around 50 percent of the towers will be constructed in the greater Jakarta areas, 30 percent of them will be built in Java and another 20 percent outside Java. The low-cost apartment will enable middle- and lower income people to own their own homes and develop the relatively undeveloped areas.
- Refinishing Homes
In May 2007, Graha Famili Management involved the residents in refinishing their homes, the color of most were already fading. The program was conducted in collaboration with PT Propan Raya, a paint producer.
- Clean Water Project
Clean water has been the focus of Graha Famili Management. That is why in early 2007, the Management set up a small laboratory to test the water quality in its water treatment plants (WTP). This project was followed up with a training program for WTP 1, WTP 2 and WTP 3 operators to boost their ability to produce clean water. In May, the Management organized a field study for all WTP operators in which they visited the best WTP Company in Jakarta, PT Tirtacisadane, and clean water processing company PT H2O.
- Contractor Competition
The Company has been conducting its Clean, Green and Go Win competition since July 2006. In September 2007, the Company organized the same competition for landscape contractors in Graha Famili. The criteria for winning the competition included aspects of greenness, cleanliness, orderliness, equipment, workers, and work schedule. The competition aims at encouraging landscape contractors to create a green, clean, and neat living environment in Graha Famili.
Poverty And Disaster Relief
- Aid to Flood Survivors
When the great flood occurred in Jakarta in February 2007, the Company distributed food to the flood victims in some neighborhoods, including those in the Kelurahan Karet Tengsin, RW 0.4 of Jakarta.
- Charity to the Less Fortunate Families
In September 2007, PT Intiland Grande, PT Grande Family View (subsidiaries of Intiland) and PT Sanggar Asri Sentosa conducted a charity program distributing 600 food packages to less fortunate families residing in various neighborhoods, including in Babatan and Wiyung in Surabaya. At the same time, Graha Famili residents also distributed 500 food packages to community members surrounding the housing compound.
- Independence Day Charitable Activities
Various activities were conducted by Graha Famili residents to celebrate Independence Day in August, including hosting a blood donor clinic and collecting food stuffs from the residents and distributing them to those in need.
Promoting Health And Healthy Lifestyle
- Blood Donor
In collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross, the Company has involved employees, tenants, and customers in its blood donor program since January 16, 2007. A blood donor clinic is held every three months. The Company considers the blood donor program to be beneficial in making employees aware that they work in a socially responsible company and take pride in being part of such a company. Similar pride of being tenants and customers of a socially responsible company is also expected to be felt by the Company’s tenants and customers.
- Sport Competitions
As part of the Company’s engagement of the larger community, it held various sport competitions. In March, Graha Famili’s security team won the shooting championship held on the sixth anniversary of PASMAR I.
In May and June, the Company held football competitions. The first competition was held between the Intiland and Hotel Majapahit team, while the second competition was between the Intiland and Citra Raya’ security teams.
Promoting Education
- Student Visits
The Company believes in contributing to the promotion of training the future leaders of the nation by engaging the student community through various activities. In 2007, the Company welcomed student visits from the following universities:
• Tadulako University’s Architecture Department, for an architecture study and observation.
• Trisakti University’s Architecture Department, to collect data, from Accounting Department and Design Department for thesis-writing purposes.
• Persada Indonesia (Y.A.I) University’s Architecture Department, to conduct workshop on “High Rise Building in Jakarta”.
• University of Indonesia’s Technical Department and from City Asset Management Department for thesis-writing purposes.
• Indraprasta PGRI University’s Architecture Department, to observe and conduct a field study.
• Brawijaya University’s Accounting Department, for thesis-writing purposes.
• Airlangga University’s Magister Management for thesis-writing purposes.
