The Company was established on June 10, 1983, under the name PT Wisma Dharmala Sakti. Its first project was the development of its flagship 22-storey tower of the same name (Wisma Dharmala Sakti), which officially opened in 1987 and until today, continues to house the Company’s Headquarters.
In relation to the OTC (Over the Counter) public offer of its shares on the Jakarta and Surabaya stock exchanges in 1989, the Company changed its name to PT Dharmala Intiland Tbk and rapidly expanded into other real-estate related areas, such as residential township developments, hotels, industrial estates and golf and sports clubs.
By the early to mid-90s, the Company had become particularly well-known in Indonesia for its innovative luxury residential townships such as sea fronting Pantai Mutiara in North Jakarta and Graha Famili in West Surabaya. The Company is also often associated with its iconic and award winning flagship office buildings in the heart of Jakarta’s and Surabaya’s CBDs respectively.
Following the 1997-1998 Asian Financial Crisis, the Company, like many other Indonesian businesses, underwent severe financial stresses. Due to the commitment of its management and staff, its core business of Property Development and Property Management continued to be strong and it was able to pull through.
On June 29, 2007, following the restructuring, the Company was renamed PT Intiland Development Tbk.
